Über die Schriftfamilie ARB 93 Steel Moderne

Möchten Sie einen authentischen Western Font? Von anno dazumal? Für ein Gefühl wie in alten Zeiten? Verdammt, Partner, das sind keine großen alten Serifen, die du da siehst. Das sind "Stäbe", also Stahlstangen. Sie könnten allerdings etwas rostig sein, da sie seit 1939 im Umlauf sind. Damals zierten diese bügeleisentauglichen Buchstabenformen zum ersten Mal die Seiten der Zeitschrift SIGNS of the Times von ST Publications. Dies war die 93. Schriftbehandlung durch den Schildermalermeister Alf R. Becker. Und obwohl er gehofft hatte, dass die Schildermaler die Kanten des Stahls etwas abmildern würden, sind die meisten scharf und schnittfest geblieben. Passen Sie also auf Ihre Finger auf! Und achten Sie auch auf die Narrowe-Version von Moderne Steel. Sie wurde vorkondensiert, um die peinlichen Dehnungsstreifen zu vermeiden, die durch ein unsachgemäß verzerrtes Layout entstehen. Und natürlich haben wir die Kanten ein wenig abgestumpft, damit du dich nicht verletzen kannst. Aus diesem Grund hat diese Becker Font Familie maximal 32 Geschmacksrichtungen. Das ist eine Menge an Fettdruck, Abstumpfung und Kursivschrift, die da passiert! Ab Januar 1932 versorgte Alf R. Becker aus St. Louis, Missouri, auf Wunsch des damaligen Herausgebers E. Thomas Kelly die neue Kunst- und Designrubrik des Magazins "SIGNS of the Times" mit einem Alphabet pro Monat - ein Projekt, das ursprünglich nur zwei Jahre dauern sollte. Monaten In Verkennung der Popularität der "Serie" lief sie stattdessen 27 Jahre lang und endete schließlich zwei Jahre vor Beckers Tod im Jahr 1959 mit einer Gesamtzahl von 320 Alphabeten - eine nahezu perfekte, ununterbrochene Serie. Ende 1941, nur zehn Jahre nach der Veröffentlichung des ersten Alphabets, wurden 100 dieser Alphabete zusammengestellt und in Buchform unter dem Titel 100 Alphabets von Alf R. Becker veröffentlicht. Wie im September 1939 veröffentlicht, ist dies die Beschreibung, die Beckers 93. Alphabet, Steel Moderne, begleitet: Steel Moderne ist Alf R. Beckers dreiundneunzigstes Alphabet in seiner fast acht Jahre alten Serie von Alphabetzeichnungen in SIGNS of the Times. Dieser Stil kann in allen Bereichen der modernen Beschilderung wirksam eingesetzt werden. Die oberen und unteren Balken sind besonders schwer, die vertikalen Linien sind halb so dick wie die Balken, und alle Kanten sind stumpf. Viele Font Designer haben sich daran gemacht, Beckers unglaubliche Leistung vom Papier ins Digitale zu übertragen, und viele behaupten, sein Werk mit Sorgfalt und Würde zu behandeln. Aber Fontrys Becker Fonts bleibt die historisch genaueste und praktikabelste Bearbeitung, die es gibt, und zwar in zwei für die Industrie zufriedenstellenden Versionen: CAS (Computer-Aided Signmaking) und DTP (Desktop Publishing). Und wie bei allen Fontry-Schriften Fonts ist das Kerning nicht optional - es ist außergewöhnlich!!!

Über The Fontry

Als FoundryStahl herstellten und Fonts nur ein geschmolzener Traum war ... nun, so weit zurück reichen wir nicht! Aber so sind wir auf den Namen The Fontry gekommen. The Fontry wurde 1992 von James L. Stirling und Michael Gene Adkins ins Leben gerufen und verdankt seine Ursprünge den vielen Jahren, in denen wir in Siebdruckgeschäften und in der Schilderherstellung gearbeitet haben - Einflüsse, die sich deutlich in unseren Font Designs niederschlagen. So ist es nur logisch, dass viele unserer typografischen Arbeiten die Bedürfnisse dieser Branchen widerspiegeln. Viele unserer Fonts verströmen die Stärke, die Sie von jeder Font erwarten, die es wagt, sich Display Face zu nennen. Mit einer unserer Fonts müssen Sie nicht viele kleine Texte setzen! Und unsere Inspirationen decken die ganze Bandbreite ab, von echten Bräuchen bis hin zur Wiederbelebung von Epochen. Aber unabhängig von der Herkunft sind wir stolz darauf, uns um die Details zu kümmern, von der kleinsten Knotenpositionierung bis hin zu einstelligen Kerning-Anpassungen. In jeder Fontry Font stecken über 40 Stunden Arbeit, und wir glauben, dass man das sieht. Zumindest hoffen wir, dass man es sieht - wirklich! Für Fonts , das wirklich den Raum füllt, sind wir also die Foundry Jungs, die Sie ausprobieren sollten!
