About Klin JY Font Family

Jure Stojan first created JY Klin for a student magazine in Ljubljana, Slovenia. ‘It was borne out of my frustration with layout [programs] and their taste for messing with decent fonts (making the headline occupy the entire column width at any cost, for instance). Therefore, I designed a “heavy duty” display font—it can be extended up to 120 per cent without any loss in quality (it is fairly condensed, so no one could think of squeezing it any further). I even used the font, stretched by the very 120 per cent, for 10 point text and the result was surprisingly legible (given some peculiar details prominent at display size).’

About JY&A

From JY&A principal Jack Yan: “JY&A Fonts was founded in 1987, when Jack Yan started a design firm with an emphasis on lettering. His passion for hand-lettering for clients soon extended into type design, with the first JY&A typefaces emerging at the end of the 1980s. These were developed into PostScript and TrueType fonts in the 1990s with the release of Yan Series 333, a development of Yan’s own lettering style which is one of the more successful marriages of hand lettering and typography. It has been followed by similar fonts from other manufacturers. “JY&AFonts became known for elegance and restraint. Yan’s popular JY Integrity font followed in 1995, combining interesting and innovative ligatures. JY Ætna was a revival project launched the same year. Both had c. 2,800 kerning pairs in the text fonts, which cemented JY&A Fonts‚ reputation for designing typefaces for the discerning user. JY Décennie and Décennie Express, were designed for web and print usage, while JY Comic Pro, designed by Antonio González de Santiago, shows that JY&A’s reputation for timelessness extends to fun and useful fonts as well. JY Koliba, from Slovenian designer Jure Stojan, adds a touch of the Mediterranean to the range. “Today, JY&A Fonts is as much a national brand in Australia and New Zealand as Linotype is in Europe. JY&A Fonts is a division of Jack Yan & Associates, a global communications firm.”
