FF Dagny

FF Dagny – a humanist sans, for more than just long texts

Originating from a newspaper font, FF Dagny by Örjan Nordling and Göran Söder is a generously designed and highly legible humanist sans.

After studying at the University College of Art Crafts and Design in Stockholm and the School of Design in Basel, Nordling took over the redesign of the Stockholm daily newspaper “Dagens Nyheter” at the Pangea agency. It was in this context that he designed the first styles of a font that his colleague Göran Söderström (founder of "Letters from Sweden") would later expand to FF Dagny.

Thanks to the moderate contrast in stroke width, the open counters and diagonal terminals, the neutral letters of the modern font appear generous and friendly. A large x-height guarantees good legibility, even in the small font sizes – a matter of course for a font from the newspaper industry. FF Dagny is available in six carefully graded weights, each with a matching italic. Various number sets, small caps and an alternative, closed “a” round out this flexible font, which is perfectly suited for headlines as well as body text.
