Font Designer – Josef Albers
The artist, theorist and designer Josef Albers was born on March 19, 1888 in Bottrop, Germany and died on March 25, 1976 in New Haven in the United States. He first worked as a teacher and subsequently studied at the Royal Art School, Berlin, as well as the School of Applied Arts in Essen and the Academy of Art in Munich. From 1923 he worked at the Bauhaus, where he was appointed Deputy Director in 1930. Three years later, he emigrated with his wife Anni to the USA. There he worked at Black Mountain College, North Carolina, and at Yale University School of Art.
