Font Designer – Herbert Post
Born 13 January 1903 in Mannheim, died 17 July 1978 in Bayersoien. Trained as a typesetter. Attended the Fachschule für Buch- und Kunstgewerbe in Frankfurt. Studied drawing at the Kunstgewerbeschule (subsequently the Städelschule). From 1921 to 1924, studied at the Technische Lehranstalten in Offenbach. Student of Rudolf Koch and a member of his “Offenbach Work Group”. From 1926, specialist subject teacher and class instructor in book design and typography at the Halle municipal workshops on Burg Giebichenstein. Appointed Professor in Halle in 1950 and lectured in book design and typography at Offenbach Werkkunstschule. Founded the Herbert Post press. As successor to Prof. G. Trump, appointed Director of the Academy of Graphic Arts in Munich in 1956. Worked as painter and graphic artist in Munich and Ticino from 1968.
