Wayne Thompson
Fascinated by letters since he was a teenager, Wayne began with rub-down lettering. He worked as a sign writer, photographer and journalist before settling into the design profession in the late 1980s. Now Art Director of a growing ad agency in Australia, Wayne’s long term aims are to always learn more about typography, and hopefully contribute an Aussie flavour to the world of type design. His first type design was Dallas, released in 1997 by T-26. Since then, Wayne has licensed 3 designs to ITC Fonts; ITC Django (based on the handwriting of a jazz guitarist friend), ITC Don’t Panic (inspired by postal markings) and ITC Panic. All of the fonts available at Australian Type Foundry are his own original designs.
