Font Designer – Brian Sooy

The American designer Brian Sooy operates the foundry Altered Ego Fonts, which previously operated under the name Sooy Type Foundry. He is known in the fields of art, design, calligraphy and type design. The influences on and inspirations for his work include Paul Rand, Hermann Zapf and Tim Girvin. Sooy studied Graphic Design at Bowling Green State University and later taught himself a great deal from books and research, particularly on the subject of calligraphy. He is also a member of the AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts), ATypI (Association Typographique Internationale), CIVA (Christians in the Visual Arts), and the Type Directors Club. Brian Sooy is also Creative Director of Brian Sooy & Co, a marketing design company in Ohio, focusing on the interface of print and interactive media.
