Linotype first released Neuzeit S in 1966. Neuzeit S is a redesign of D. Stempel AG's DIN Neuzeit Grotesk, which was designed by Wilhelm Pischner between 1928 and 1939. Neuzeit S was originally intended for use in large bodies of text; the S" stands for Siemens, who used the typeface at that time as part of their corporate design. Combining the regularity of form with legibility and practicality, Neuzeit S provides a strong design solution for text and headlines.

See also DIN Neuzeit Grotesk for similar fonts that work well in display sizes and signage applications."
