Duc de Berry était l'une des polices contenues dans la bibliothèque de polices « Type before Gutenberg » publiée en 1990. Elle contenait le travail de 12 créateurs de polices contemporains et proposait des styles de toutes les époques. Le graphisme de la police Duc de Berry s'est inspiré de celui des polices créées entre les treizième et seizième siècles. Le nom de la police est un hommage au Duc de Berry, dont les remarquables missels ont inspiré la typographie du quinzième siècle. Les capitales sont particulièrement élégantes ; elles peuvent être utilisées comme lettrines ou pour établir un contraste avec les minuscules, bien plus discrètes.
