The repetition of simple geometric shapes forms a daily part of our environment. Throughout the 20th century – and into the 21st – typefaces whose designs have taken advantage of this have remained popular. But finding exactly the right mood can be tricky. For your convenience, we have grouped some of our favorite geometric typefaces (mostly sans serif and symbol) into four categories: circles, squares, ovals, and triangles.

Neville Brody – born 23. 4. 1957 in London, England – graphic designer, art director, type designer. 1975: studies painting at Hornsey College and from 1976–79 at the London College of Printing. Superstar British designer Neville Brody has created typefaces that revolutionized the industry over the past two decades. These classics naturally have a sound place in the Linotype Libray. Insignia™ a été créée par un spécialiste britannique du graphisme, Neville Brody. Elle était à l'origine destinée aux titres du magazine Arena en 1986 et a été publiée en 1989 par Linotype. Insignia utilise des formes de base tirées de polices construites grotesques et a subi l'influence du style New Typography du Bauhaus au cours des années 1930. Ses lettres à lignes uniques et ses formes rondes et dures reflètent l'esprit de l'époque et rappellent la technologie et le progrès.
Pourtant, à l'instar d'autres polices créées par Brody, Insigna peut être considérée comme l'une des polices classiques à la pointe de notre ère informatique. La version Alternate de cette police comporte des demi-empattements sur les lettres E, F et Z, des boucles pincées sur les lettres P et R, un J plus large et un S dont les parties ont la forme de rapporteurs.
