Ed (Ephram Edward) Benguiat, born 27. 10. 1927 in New York, USA, type designer, calligrapher. Studied at Columbia University, New York and the Workshop School of Advertising Art, New York. 1953: associate director of "Esquire" magazine. Dans sa forme actuelle, ITC Cheltenham est l'½uvre du graphiste Tony Stan. Créée à l'origine par l'architecte Bertram Goodhue, elle a été développée par Morris Fuller Benton et complétée par Stan en 1975 avec une hauteur médiane plus élevée et des détails italiques améliorés. ITC Cheltenham est un exemple de fonte moderne et néanmoins classique.
