Charming Fonts, Western and Arabic

! Welcome to the Current Issue of the LinoLetter ! Subscribe Unsubscribe

Introduction:

Our main focus this month is on Linotype’s enhanced Arabic Type Collection. But we have some great Latin script faces to introduce you to as well; take ITC Grimshaw Hand, for instance. This gem of a handwriting font comes out of our "grunge script" category. More western fonts can be found in three of our newest basic-user value packs; this month we are proud to present a trio of Value Packs that all aid in the design of professional-quality menu design. Closing out this issue is a link to Typeradio.org, a website featuring downloadable podcasts with some of the leading figures in typography today.

Have fonts of fun!

From Traditional Through Modern – Arabic Typefaces in the Linotype Library

Arabic Typefaces
For almost a century, Linotype has been a leader in the field of Arabic typesetting technology. Today, the Linotype Library boasts a number of high quality Arabic typefaces popular across the Arab world. Together with leading figures in the industry, Linotype has expanded and updated its font collection according to the latest technology requirements and the growing publishing needs of the Arab world.

Linotype’s fonts support the Arabic, Persian, and Urdu languages, as well as Basic Latin. They ship in the new OpenType format, which enables them to be used on both Mac and PC. The format also allows for better control over the positioning vocalization marks and the use of a large character set. Our fonts contain several extra features, such as proportional numerals, ligatures, and ornaments. Ranging from text to headline styles, and in traditional to modern varieties, they offer a wide range of typographic possibilities. A Warm & Lively Personal Script – ITC Grimshaw Hand™

Grimshaw Hand
ITC Grimshaw Hand™ is one of the best fonts in our "grunge script" category. Designed in 1995, the face is based on the handwriting of star British designer Phill Grimshaw, who sadly left the world much too early. His typographic designs still inspire today, and his presence is very missed.
But back to this great typeface! Warm and lively, the ITC Grimshaw Hand™ typeface has the typical look of handwriting, lending a personal touch to computer-generated documents.
