 | Already familiar with the Linotype Compatil type system? Over a two-year period, Prof. Olaf Leu worked together with the Linotype Design Studio to create our most ambitious family and the world’s most comprehensive type system to date! None of its competitors have been built upon such a strong construction principle: a single character has the same width across each of the four type families, allowing for a completely free mixing of styles. Compatil is a highly multi-faceted and usable type system that is particularly suited for business publications and annual reports. The extremely legible numbers lend themselves superbly to financial data and tables.
As part of the constant building that we continue to add onto this solid foundation, all Compatil families have recently been expanded to include italic styles. All Compatil styles and weights are now available for purchase in OpenType Format as well. This conversion has allowed for Central European glyphs to be added into the character sets; all Compatil OpenType fonts are now called "Compatil OT Pro." These changes spread the spectrum of possible uses for Compatil over a wider and more international base: our extended character set now supports 48 different languages.

 | We constantly notice exceptional, humorous, and romantic typefaces on movie posters or announcements, and then wonder which fonts were used to make them. Quite often, film companies produce these letterforms themselves, and use them solely for their own distribution purposes. However, there are numerous fonts in the vast Linotype Library that appear similar to some of these designs, and which can convey the same mood as the film. |
