Part 1Italian designer Alessio Leonardi creates experimental typefaces that capture the Zeitgeist of the 1990s, and are full of charm and wit to boot! More about the fonts: F2F Al Retto™ Like a game of Tertis gone awry, Alessio Leonardi’s F2F Al Retto is an alphabet full of boxy, outlined squares that seem to move across lines of text. This typeface should be set large, so that its subtle movement-like qualities may best be observed. F2F Allineato™ A double wavy outline roughly defines the contours of the characters and stable forms are nowhere to be found. The figures seem to be constantly in motion and even changing form. The airy inner spaces make for light lines of text and require large or very large point sizes. Only starting at 36 point can one see the full effect of the font’s idiosyncratic character. The experimental Allineato will work especially well in trend magazines and flyers. CoolWool™ Alessio Leonardi took his inspiration from clothing labels and care instructions. Cool Wool is designed to look like it was stitched, a style of typeface which goes back to the hand embroidery of the time of Biedermeier. Cool Wool, however, is a distinctly modern font with a technical feel. The font is not suited for longer texts, but Cool Wool is good for shorter texts and headlines, especially because of the possibilities allowed by its three different styles, regular, stone washed (bold) and Cotton Club (outline). HaManga Irregular™ Alession Leonardi plays with the difference between content and impression. At first glance the font looks almost like a row of pictograms or Asiatic characters. The forms become Arabic letters when the characters are set together to form words. Ha Manga is a good font to use when the reader is supposed to contemplate not only the text but the form of what he or she sees. F2F Madame Butterfly™ F2F Madame Butterfly is a font with a heavy, or dark, appearance. The darkness is brought about by the overlapping bits of glyph forms that make up each letter in the typeface. F2F Mekanik Amente™ F2F Mekanik Amente appears as if it had once been a normal font whose letters were horribly attacked by a pair of scissors. This font could be a very creative choice for headlines. F2F Mekkaso Tomanik™ F2F Mekkaso Tomanik is a font whose letters have had diamond holes punched into them. In fact, so many holes have been punched into the letters that one could ask whether this font is more letterforms, or more holes! F2F Metamorfosi™ Letterforms in F2F Metamorfosi are parts of other characters that have been rotated to take on new meaning. For instance, an upside down V has become an A, a German ß has become the B, and a left parenthesis has become the C, etc. F2F Poison Flowers™ F2F Poison Flowers is a psychedelic trip back in time to the era of peace and love. Who would have ever thought that grunge could be so groovy? F2F Prototipa Multipla™ The glyphs in F2F Prototypia Multipla have been turned into mini letter collages. Text set in this font will take on a quilt-pattern-like appearance. F2F Provinciali™ F2F Provinciali’s letters look like they have been reversed in a spotlight. Parts of white, classical serif letterforms peer out from black ovular shadows. F2F Tagliatelle Sugo™ Bubbly black letterforms dancing across the line: this is F2F Tagliatelle Sugo, a funky font from Alessio Leonardi. Try it out in a big headline today! Ale™ The Ale Transport font is a large collection of funny pictures for the various kinds of transportation like air, land and water. Here you can see Alessios italian design joy which he has presented in many other ways and presentations. Have fun in discovering the varoius pictures like the submarine on the railway or the airplane with the letterflag with "Do it again". F2F Simbolico™ This collection of ruggedly drawn symbol fonts is meant to bring a smile to the readers face. Hearts, candles, bombs, and peace signs are just some of the great symbols you’ll find in F2F Simbolico. See more of Alessio Leonardi’s fonts on the next page Part 2 |
