Argentine designer Victor Garcia created the following fonts: Linotype Tangomaniacs™ (2002), Linotype Bix Bats™ family fonts (2003), Linotype Bix™ Plain (2000), Linotype Zootype™ family fonts (1999). Il s'agit d'une police de symboles thématiques issue de la collection TakeType No 4 qui contient 182 polices rafraîchissantes, nouvelles, étranges mais avant tout contemporaines.
Victor Garcia déclare au sujet du développement et des détails techniques de Linotype Tangomaniacs : « Il a fallu résoudre un dilemme dès le départ. La complexité graphique visée entrait en conflit avec la synthèse graphique qui nécessite que les polices au format numérique fonctionnent correctement ».
Il était essentiel d'obtenir le meilleur résultat possible pour que la police soit prise en charge par le langage postscript utilisé par les polices numériques. Il n'était donc pas recommandé de tracer les dessins finaux sur papier.
Pour cette raison, les dessins ont tous été réalisés directement sur un support numérique afin de grader un contrôle maximal de la synthèse graphique et de la pureté des lignes vectorielles qui en résultent.
Le créateur a tout juste pu commencer à travailler à partir de simples croquis sur papier qu'il a ensuite scannés, afin de s'en servir comme modèle pour ca création. Malgré les limitations techniques qui surviennent dans la transformation de dessins en police de caractères, il a tout de même tenté de maintenir un degré élevé de détails. De cette manière, les dessins permettent d'effectuer des zooms et des cadrages sans aucun problème.
Linotype Tangomaniacs contient deux graisses : Linotype Tangomaniacs Day et Linotype Tangomaniacs Night. Victor Garcia déclare à propos des caractéristiques de ces deux graisses :
« Tangomaniacs Day montre des couples dansant un tango en plein jour de manière réaliste, détaillée et expressive. La plupart des personnages ont les yeux mi-clos afin de souligner l'atmosphère sensuelle et érotique inhérente au tango.
Linotype Tangomaniacs Night présente des silhouettes de couples dansant un tango dans la pénombre, d'une manière évocatrice, synthétique et intimiste. Il s'agit des mêmes couples que dans Tangomaniacs Day, mais en synthèse graphique ».
