Wilhelm Klingspor Gotisch™ a été créée en 1925 par Rudolf Koch pour la fonderie Klingspor Frères à Offenbach, en Allemagne. Koch, qui était dessinateur en chef chez Klingspor, a baptisé la fonte en l'honneur du copropriétaire de la fonderie. Koch était un calligraphe, un artiste et un dessinateur remarquable. Wilhelm Klingspor Gotisch, que les amateurs de lettres gothiques du monde entier admirent et tentent d'égaler, est probablement l'un des plus beaux exemples existants de fonte textura. Textura (ou écriture gothique) désigne le style d'écriture développé dans le nord de l'Europe au Moyen Âge. Dans l'écriture gothique, l'espace est utilisé différemment qu'il ne l'est dans les écritures romaines. Dans ces écritures et ces fontes, les minuscules doivent être texturées avec des éléments noirs et blancs, comme la texture du tissu. Les majuscules gothiques peuvent posséder une texture régulière (à l'aide de formes ornementales) ou, si elles sont larges et remplies de blanc, constituer des éléments clairs permettant la mise en valeur du texte. Les majuscules et les minuscules de Wilhelm Klingspor Gotisch sont belles, vives et magistrales. L'espacement est presque aussi bon que celui utilisé par Gutenberg. Il est conseillé d'utiliser cette fonte éclatante dans une taille supérieure ou égale à 14 pour les cartes de Noël, les certificats, les invitations de mariage, la publicité ou les documents relatifs à la musique.
