Much has been written about the evolution of type: how the forms of our letters took shape, from the roman capitals to the Carolingian minuscules, and how the Latin alphabet was then, essentially, finalized for eternity by the first printing presses of the Renaissance Age.
Looking back from where we stand now, we could say that the original forms of our uppercase letters are around 2,000 years old, while those of our lowercase letters would be over 1,000 years old. And

Adrian Frutiger a créé Vectora™ en 1990 pour Linotype après avoir pris conscience des besoins en polices sans empattement pouvant être lues facilement en
petites tailles. Il a été influencé par les polices sans empattement créées par Morris Fuller Benton au début des années 1900 pour American Type Founders, telles que
Franklin Gothic et News Gothic. Vectora dispose d'une apparence visuelle équilibrée et monotone, de hauteurs de médiane élevées, de formes individuelles tendues et de contre-poinçons ouverts. Toutes ces caractéristiques contribuent à une bonne lisibilité à petite taille. Frutiger a également inclus une certaine cohérence entre les graisses et les styles afin de créer une famille fonctionnelle et harmonieuse. Vectora constitue le choix idéal lorsqu'une police sans empattement contemporaine est requise pour une typographie de texte.
