The renowned British designer Matthew Carter has worked as a type designer for over 40 years. His designs are suitable for an astonishing array of applications; many of them are already world-famous and the recipients of countless awards. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, le style ionique a remplacé les Didones comme police de caractères favorite dans l'édition. Quelques dizaines d'années plus tard, ce style a lui-même été remplacé dans les journaux par la génération suivante, un mélange de formes Garaldes, Réales et Didones. Bien que la police Olympian s'inspire du style garalde, elle représente cette nouvelle génération, fruit d'une époque marquée par le changement et la nouveauté.
