The graphic designer Oliver Brentzel created Linotype Spitz™ in 1997. Le motif de décoration du Chrysler Building à New York a servi de langage formel à l'origine de la police Linotype Spitz. Il s'agit d'une combinaison d'éléments pointus et semi-circulaires qui produisent leur propre valeur esthétique grâce à leur interaction. Tout comme le Chrysler Building, Linotype Spitz n'a pas été créée en se basant sur des règles géométriques, mais sa conception prend en compte les phénomènes optiques. Elle se caractérise par son apparence élégante, due à sa conception exceptionnellement fine et pointue. Elle est idéale pour les affiches et la publicité.
