Jürgen Weltin was born on May 8th, 1969 in Constance. After schooling and swimming a lot in the Lake of Constance he worked in a publishing house before he started to study graphic design at the Technical College in Würzburg. After an apprenticeship in design company Stankowski + Duschek and after one term at Bournemouth & Poole College of Art and Design he graduated in Würzburg under Reinhard Haus from Linotype presenting the beginning of the new typeface Linotype Finnegan®.

La Finnegan® famille de polices appartient à la bibliothèque Linotype Originals.
Le créateur allemand Jürgen Weltin a conçu Finnegan, une police de texte moderne dont les racines remontent aux formes humanistes de la Renaissance. Étant donné que la direction de l'écriture part d'en haut à gauche pour se terminer en bas à droite, Weltin a imité ce mouvement dans sa création et les traits montant et descendant se terminent par de petits empattements. Les traits épais se terminent en pointe et les traits horizontaux et les courbes sont visiblement plus fines que les traits verticaux. Ce dynamisme confère à Finnegan une combinaison d'individualisme et d'énergie, ainsi qu'un degré élevé de variété.Cette police est entièrement nouvelle et unique. Elle se distingue par sa grande lisibilité, son originalité et son excellence formelle. Linotype Finnegan rend les textes longs amusants à lire d'une traite. Elle ne détourne cependant jamais l'attention du contenu du texte en se plaçant trop au premier plan.
