My favorite is your eponymous typeface, which I first became aware of as a beginning graphic designer in the Graphic Designer’s Production Handbook (by Norman Sanders). Outside of the captions, it was laid out entirely in Frutiger in a clean, clear, communicative, classical style — very much like the typeface itself. lieber adrian, die schrift "frutiger" hat meilensteine in puncto lesbarkeit gesetzt und hängt dabei sowohl helvetica als auch futura deutlich ab. für die unterscheidbarkeit der buchstaben (CGO aceo) und ziffern (6890) ist es genau das richtige, sie nicht auf einem kreis oder einer ellipse aufzubauen, sondern offen auslaufen zu lassen, daher bauen auch so viele neuere schriften darauf auf. deine schriftentwürfe sind wahrlich zeitlos und neutral wie die schweiz! alles stimmt (nun - fast alles, bei der "frutiger next" stimmt jetzt auch das ß). kriegen wir eigentlich auch noch mediävalziffern und eine schmale kursivschrift für die frutiger next? — tobias b köhler, österreich

Happy 80th Birthday! I am a designer in Portland, Oregon and just wanted to pass on how your fonts have influenced some of my larger projects. When I worked at Nike as the US creative Director of Brand Design, we choose Avenir as our corporate font in 1996. Several years ago while working with Johnson & Johnson, I recommended Frutiger for the J&J Medical Institute. We were working on an environmental design package for the institute and Museum. Hello Mr. Frutiger, Happy Birthday to you. I am a designer and work in an advertising firm in London Ontario. We make a lot of newspaper advertising, some of the really good ones :) and we use your fonts a lot. There is not a day in my work week that I don't use one of the Avenir, Frutiger or Universe family for the my ads. I love Avenir the most as to me it is a very honest font, easy to read and therefore great for ads that have to deliver information. My best wishes goes to you on your birthday.
