Linotype.com adds thousands of fonts

! Welcome to the Current Issue of the LinoLetter !

Introduction:

Since the beginning of January, our webshop’s product range has increased, with over four thousand more fonts now available for customers to peruse! While these primarily include typefaces from the Monotype and ITC libraries, a notable addition is a very new Linotype Original: Agilita™ – a new sans serif family with 32 styles, created by German designer Jürgen Weltin. With over 10,000 fonts now available, Linotype.com has become a larger, more thorough resource. But what if you are looking for just a single face? Fortunately, to coincide with our bigger shop, we’ve also improved the functionality of our search engine considerably. Now finding the right font for your work should be easier than ever before, whether you choose to navigate through all of our new additions or not.

Harmony and function combined – Announcing Agilita’s debut

A new humanist sans serif family for the 21st century, Agilta’s 32 styles include ten different weights, running the gamut from ultra thins to type that is heavy and dark. The lightest hairline weights lend themselves well to very large point sizes, and are exclusively intended for headlines and signage. A versatile typeface for large-scale text setting, Agilita may be used in complex design projects, orientation systems, and even dictionaries, just to name a few examples. Each font in the Agilta family is built according to Linotype’s Extended European character set guidelines; these offer support for more than 48 Latin-based languages used in Western, Central, and Eastern Europe, including the Baltics and Turkey.

Thousands of new fonts for every purpose – The Monotype Collection

It isn’t every day that the number of fonts available for customers to try and buy at Linotype.com virtually doubles. But when this does occur, it is always a happy occasion! Since January, Linotype has been carrying all of the typefaces from Monotype Imaging’s vast library in its webshop. With a history that stretches back over a hundred years, the Monotype Collection includes many of the best-known types of the 20th century, including revivals from the 1920s, such as Plantin™ or Baskerville™, design milestones forged under the guiding eye of Stanley Morison, like Perpetua™ and Times New Roman™, as well as work that may help define the look of a new era, including Neo Sans™, Neo Tech™, and ITC Resavska™. Several typefaces in this collection are expanded OpenType families, with support for multiple language and typographic features. One of the newest examples is Bembo™ Book.

Freestyle calligraphy at your fingertips – Georg Trump’s Jaguar script

Jaguar™ is another typeface designed in Germany whose formal language shows a potential for worldwide appeal. Originally created in 1965 by Georg Trump, Jaguar is a lively, non-joining calligraphic script typeface. This blast from the past offers a unique style not found in many script faces: its letterforms have a typographic structure to them, even though they appear to have been written out quite quickly with a lettering brush. Jaguar is well suited for headlines and titling purposes. The bigger the better!

More and more new typefaces are being shipped with large OpenType character sets that include an increasing array of ligatures and other alternate glyphs. Re-tooled search engine brings better results faster

Linotype.com’s basic search function just got a whole lot better! Now, font families, collections, and single fonts are all displayed on a single page, as are similar-sounding search result possibilities. All results are also sorted according to popularity.
Our Advanced Search feature has been retooled as well. Now you can search for specific typefaces with the aid of filters, check boxes for character set features, and so much more. Find the font or product you are searching for faster than ever!
