Friedrich Karl Sallwey – born 16. 10. 1918 in Langen, Germany, died August 11, 2005 – graphic artist, type designer. 1937–39 and 1941–42: studies at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Offenbach. 1948: works at the Bauersche Gießerei as Heinrich Jost´s assistant. From 1951 onwards: freelance graphic artist in Frankfurt am Main. Linotype Sallwey Script font was designed by Friedrich K. Sallwey in 1980. This font has a handwritten character due in part to its slight lean to the right. Sallwey Script is both lively and harmonious and lends texts a private, personal touch. Sallwey Script font is best suited to middle length texts and headlines.
