The Constructivists
Constructivist principles also influenced and expanded the field of objective illustration. Oskar Schlemmer remained true to objectivity while effecting drastic reductions in his painting. The influence of Gerd Arntz can still be seen today in series of pictograms. Arntz belonged to the Constructivist “Group of Progressive Artists” of Cologne which worked with political themes. Other members of this group were Heinrich Hoerle, Franz W. Seiwert, Augustin Tschinkel, and Gottfried Brockmann.
