Linotypes Photo-Type contest

About the Photo-Type Contest

Linotype invited designers and photographers worldwide to take part in its first ever Photo-Type photography contest. Type and typography are an integral part of our everyday lives. We are constantly exposed to visual communications from billboards to text messaging. However, we might not always be aware of the extent of which type can define our daily experiences. Linotype’s Photo-Type contest is an investigation into the role of type in modern life and the various ways we interact with the alphabet.

The finalists included type in unexpected places, like small pebbles or wooden doors. It also saw funky letters on an old building, giant block letters, and a sweet heart felt memory engraved on a tombstone. The public voted for their favorite photo and you can see the results here as well as works that Linotype would like to give an Honorable Mention to.
