Sachsenwald

Berthold Wolpe drew the blackletter Sachsenwald™ design in the early 1930s. Originally named “Bismarck Schrift,” it is one of the finest typographic examples of a scribal letterform developed well before the time of Gutenberg. The digitized Sachsenwald typeface is a revival of the original design. The light and regular weights capture the distinctive calligraphic character of the original design. Sachsenwald is one of the five designs in The Wolpe Collection of typefaces.
