LinoLetter 2005/10

Holiday Planning and East Asian Font Shopping

! Welcome to the Current Issue of the LinoLetter ! Subscribe Unsubscribe

Introduction:

This month, we would like to help you get ready for the holidays by presenting two products that can’t help but aid creativity – our new Xmas Com Fonts series, and the Kids Value Pack. Another new favorite of ours that we’d like to acquaint you with is the Bodebeck typeface, a re-cutting of timeless English lettering styles. Additionally this month, we are proud to introduce over 250 new East Asian fonts that have entered our library; these include fonts for the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean languages/writing systems. Rounding out this month’s report is information about our new magazine; published from time to time, the Linotype Matrix will keep you informed about the most up-to-date design trends, and how typefaces fit into them.

Have fonts of fun!
Xmas Com Fonts
Annual holiday letter writing time again? Looking for contemporary fonts that are filled with friendly symbols, and which offer unlimited possibilities for modern communication? Look no further: Fuenfwerken, a design studio from Wiesbaden, Germany, has come to the rescue! Introducing the Xmas Com Fonts, their latest Fun-Font family.
Each of the three Xmas Com fonts has more than 60 symbols inside. Xmas Com Story includes the whole figure palette necessary for a classical Christmas story. Customers who aren’t searching for a biblical font should check out Xmas Com Essentials. This font contains typical non-denominational end-of-the-year holiday ornaments, such as snowflakes, decorated trees, nutcrackers, and stars. Last but not least is the Xmas Com Modern font. Like a snowman meeting running out of winter days, this font will make holiday and New Year’s card recipients melt with delight.
Which font should you buy? Our recommendation:
Kids Value Pack
Linotype’s new Kids Value Pack contains five typefaces full of the same creative spirit found in children the world over. Playful loops and curls adorn the letterforms in these five fonts; text set in them will dance across the page!
This Value Pack is a marvelous cross section of the rich selection of top quality fun fonts from Linotype’s collection. Take advantage of this opportunity, and purchase the Kids Value Pack for the one-time low price of USD/EUR 29.50! (Offer valid through the end of October.)
Bodebeck
Bodebeck is a new typeface family, design according to old traditions. Transitional-Style typefaces tend to be light and multiple axes, and they have been the rage in England since the 1700s. These types form a bridge between old-style and modern typography.
The Swedish designer and typographer Anders Bodebeck developed the Bodebeck family in 2002. Because of its slightly abstract qualities, such as parts of individual letters that thin out and disappear, Bodebeck is primarily intended for use as a titling, or display face. Fitted with Oldstyle figures, the Bodebeck family is available in the following styles: Regular, Italic, Bold, Bold Italic, and Extra Bold.
DynaComware Library

The Linotype Matrix

A New Magazine for Type Trends – The Linotype Matrix is Back

The Linotype Matrix was a quarterly newssheet produced in England by Linotype & Machinery Ltd. from the 1930s through the 1960s. The publication carried information about Linotype products and the printing trade, as well as articles on type design and typography. As such, it was a platform where new typefaces were portrayed, and the journal often thoroughly reported the success stories of Linotype originals.
Almost 50 years after its last issue, the Linotype Matrix has returned! This time, it is published in magazine format. Rich in content and graphics, the new look takes into consideration the reading habits and design trends of today. But the purpose is still the same: to showcase the hidden gems of Linotype’s collection, and to provide a vehicle for design discourse and typographic expression.
This month only, save 30% off the issue’s cover price! Purchase Linotype Matrix Vol. 4 Issue 1 for only USD/EUR 8.50 (excl. VAT)
