Zapfino Extra Pro can also be used in applications that support Unicode but do not support OpenType features, on both Mac OS X and Windows.
To access the alternates and ligatures in Unicode-savy applications for Microsoft Windows, e.g. Microsoft Word 2003 or Corel Draw! 12, use the Character Map utility (Start / All Programs / Accessories).
To access the alternates and ligatures in Unicode-savy applications for Mac OS X, e.g. Keynote or TextEdit, use the Character Palette keyboard panel (enable it in System Preferences / International / Input Menu).
If your application does not fully support Unicode, e.g. QuarkXPress 6 or older, Adobe Illustrator 10, Adobe Photoshop 7, Microsoft Word for Mac, please use the non-Pro version of the font.
Compared with previous editions of Zapfino, many characters have been redesigned in Zapfino Extra Pro, and many new characters have been added. If you created documents using the TrueType dfont version of Zapfino that ships with Mac OS X, use Zapfino Extra Pro for line-height compatibility. If you created documents using the PostScript Type 1 version of Zapfino, use Zapfino Extra Pro for similar appearance.
Zapfino Extra Pro includes an extensive multilingual character set. The font includes diacritic characters for nearly 50 European languages that use the Latin script, e.g. Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Icelandic, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.
