British designer Martin Archer created the font ITC Eastwood™ in 1997. ITC Eastwood is named for Clint Eastwood. Archer was looking for a plain oldstyle typeface with open lower case forms and used Stempel Garamond™ as his starting point, although the result ended up well beyond its origins. In small point sizes the typeface looks interestingly rough while at display sizes it looks like a 16th century French typeface and its unique details come forward. Die ITC Eastwood ist das Werk des britischen Designers Martin Archer, der sie nach Clint Eastwood benannte. Archer war auf eine einfache Renaissance-Antiqua mit offenen Minuskeln aus; er nahm die Stempel Garamond als Ausgangspunkt, wobei das Endresultat kaum noch Ähnlichkeit mit dem Vorbild hat. In kleinen Schriftgraden wirkt die Schrift aufgeraut, in den Schaugrößen hingegen sieht sie aus wie eine Schrift aus der französischen Renaissance ¿ hier treten ihre einmaligen Details richtig zu Tage.
