Ed (Ephram Edward) Benguiat, born 27. 10. 1927 in New York, USA, type designer, calligrapher. 1894 schuf Linn Boyd Benton im Auftrag der amerikanischen Zeitschrift "Century Magazine" eine neue Textschrift. Das Design dieser Zeitungsschrift entspricht der damaligen Neorenaissance-Bewegung in der Typografie. Morris Fuller Benton zeichnete davon verschiedene Versionen für die Schriftgießerei American Typefounders. Daraufhin nahmen Setzmaschinenfirmen Linotype, Intertype und Monotype die Schrift in ihr Produktionsprogramm auf.
