Oswald Bruce Cooper gestaltete die Cooper Black, eine extrafette Antiqua, auf der Grundlage seiner zuvor bei Barnhart Brothers & Spindler - Type Founders in Chicago - erschienen Schrift Cooper Old Style. Sie wurde 1922 bei Barnhart gegossen und 1924 von der Schriftguß AG in Dresden übernommen, wo man sie später mit einer passenden Kursiv vervollständigte. Obwohl die Schrift schon im ersten Drittel des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts erschien, wirkt sie auch heute noch ungewöhnlich zeitgemäß. Im Stadtbild ist sie bei Ladenbeschriftungen des öfteren anzutreffen. Ihre fließenden Außenformen lassen sie kräftig und dennoch weich erscheinen.
