Eine Symbolschrift zum Thema Tanz aus der neuen TakeType No. 4, die 182 frische, neue, experimentelle, coole und hochmoderne Fonts enthält.
Victor Garcia zur Entwicklung und den technischen Details der Linotype Tangomaniacs: ¿Gleich zu Anfang musste ein Dilemma gelöst werden: Die beabsichtigte grafische Komplexität stand in Konflikt zu der grafischen Synthese, die notwendig ist, damit digitale Fonts richtig funktionieren.¿
Um ein optimales Resultat zu erzielen, musste die Unterstützung durch PostScript gewährleistet sein. Deshalb war es nicht ratsam, den endgültigen Entwurf auf Papier zu zeichnen.
So zeichnete ich alles direkt auf dem Computer, um die höchstmögliche Kontrolle über die grafische Synthese und die Reinheit der resultierenden Vektorlinien zu haben.
Nur in ein paar wenigen Fällen zeichnete ich zunächst einfache Skizzen auf Papier und scannte diese dann ein, um sie als Zeichnungsvorlagen zu benutzen. Trotz der technischen Einschränkungen beim Konvertieren von Zeichnungen in digitale Schriften habe ich versucht, die Details möglichst hinüberzuretten. Denn nur so war es möglich, anschließend beliebige Close-ups und Framings zu erzeugen.¿
Die Linotype Tangomaniacs enthält zwei Schriftstärken: Linotype Tangomaniacs Day und Linotype Tangomaniacs Night. Victor Garcia über die Erkennungsmerkmale dieser beiden Schriftstärken:
¿Die Tangomaniacs Day zeigt tanzende Paare bei hellem Tageslicht auf realistische, detailgetreue und expressive Art. In der Tangomaniacs Day werden die meisten Tänzer mit halb geschlossenen Augen dargestellt, um die Sinnlichkeit und prickelnde Erotik zwischen Mann und Frau, die dem Tango eigen ist, auszudrücken.
Die Linotype Tangomaniacs Night enthält Silhouetten von Tangotänzern im Halbdunkel, wodurch eine sehr evokative und intime Atmosphäre zustandekommt. Tangomaniacs Night zeigt dieselben Tänzer in grafischer Synthese.
