Designed by Howard Cuttle, a graduate in Product Design, Ink Spot is based on hand-written letterforms that do not join but give the feeling of having been drawn briskly. The intention was to emulate pen-drawn letters where the stroke weights vary and certain parts of individual letters receive a build-up of ink. The noticeably irregular character heights and inter-character spacing, give the face a strong humanist feel. The Ink Spot font family is a casual, freely drawn script family that should prove popular in advertising, where an informal feel is required, and for correspondence and letters where the human touch is desirable. Although usable down to sizes as small as 8 point, Ink Spot is best used at 12 point and above.
