Benannt nach der berühmten Mäzenen-Familie aus der Renaissance und 1974 entworfen von Hermann Zapf für Linotype, ist die Medici eine kalligrafische Schrift, die aussieht, als sei sie mit Breitfeder (auch Bandzug- oder Wechselzugfeder genannt) auf raues Papier gezeichnet worden. Sie gilt als Vorläuferin von Zapfs Studien für die ITC Zapf Chancery-Serie.
