The German designer Dieter Kurz created the fonts Matthia™ (1994), and Linotype Sketch™ (1997). Die Linotype Matthia gehört zu den Schriften der TakeType Library. Diese wurden aus der Fülle der Einsendungen der 1994 und 1997 von Linotype ausgeschriebenen Wettbewerbe International Digital Type Design Contest ausgewählt. Die Matthia zählt zu den Preisträgerschriften und wurde von Dieter Kurz gestaltet. Diese Alphabet ist eine schwungvolle, schmal aufstrebende Pinselschrift. Ihr Schriftbild kann als zurückhaltend heiter bezeichnet werden. Die Buchstabenachsen verlaufen fast geradlinig zur Grundlinie, was der Schrift neben dem bewegten Pinselschriftcharakter ebenfalls eine statische Komponente verleiht. Die Linotype Matthia erinnert auch an die Tradition der Werbe- und Reklameschriften wie sie seit den 50er Jahren populär sind. Von kurzen Texten in kleinen Größen bis zu Headlines in plakativer Größe läßt sich die Matthia ideal verwenden.
