Joseph Gillé created the font Madame™ in 1820. Madame first appeared in a sample with similar fonts, presented by the Founderie Typographique Francaise in the 19th century. The font consists of three cuts, letters, accents and numericals. The flamboyant Madame is meant for titles and headlines, emphasis in text or as initials. Die Madame wurde erstmals in einer Mustersammlung gleichgearteter Zierschriften, von der Founderié Typographique Française, im vergangenen Jahrhundert herausgegeben. Fast überladen wirken ihre initialartigen Versalien, die sich eindeutig der Dekoration verschrieben haben. Man sieht ihnen deutlich das Stilgemisch des Historismus an. Das Alphabet der Madame ist für den Titelsatz, für Auszeichnungen oder als Initiale geeignet in der Kombination mit zeitgenössischen Antiqua- und Groteskschriften. Auf jeden Fall sollte diese Schrift sparsam verwendet werden.
