Die Madame wurde erstmals in einer Mustersammlung gleichgearteter Zierschriften, von der Founderié Typographique Française, im vergangenen Jahrhundert herausgegeben. Fast überladen wirken ihre initialartigen Versalien, die sich eindeutig der Dekoration verschrieben haben. Man sieht ihnen deutlich das Stilgemisch des Historismus an. Das Alphabet der Madame ist für den Titelsatz, für Auszeichnungen oder als Initiale geeignet in der Kombination mit zeitgenössischen Antiqua- und Groteskschriften. Auf jeden Fall sollte diese Schrift sparsam verwendet werden.
