Beluga was designed by Hans-Jürgen Ellenberger. It suggest the writing-style of the Middle Ages, without being based on any specific models. A distinguishing characteristic of the typeface is its pointed, effusive serifs, which give Beluga a feeling of medieval mysticism. In spite of its dynamic character, Beluga is legible even in smaller point sizes, which makes it equally good for headlines as well as for shorter blocks of text.
