Ford’s Folly by Jim Ford:
A special, realistic calligraphic font

Ford’s Folly™, designed by Jim Ford, simulates handwritten, printed letters. The lively, somewhat special letters capture the spontaneous character of handwriting and are suited to a range of applications. Use the casual flair of Ford’s Folly for greeting and invitation cards, and to add a special touch to your designs.

Jim Ford used his own handwriting, made with a very fine marker, for this new font. Numerous irregularities in the lines give the letters a realistic and diverse character. Ford notes that the shapes are particularly effective in the 16 to 24 point sizes, which correspond to a handwritten font. The smaller font sizes do not have optimal legibility and the fine details in the letters appear rough and unrealistic in the larger sizes.

And it is precisely this realism, which is expressed in the lines as well as in the selection of characters, which is one of the greatest strengths of Ford’s Folly™. Alternate characters, ligatures, some pictograms as well as crossed-out corrections help you transfer the character of hand-written notes to print.
Moreover, the extensive options of Ford’s Folly leave nothing to be desired. Both weights have a dynamic italic version. You also have small caps available for emphasis and the language options include Cyrillic and Greek characters.
