Leslie Usherwood (1932–1983), advertising designer, typographer and type designer created the fonts Caxton™, Flange® BQ, ITC Leawood®, Lynton® BQ (1980), Marbrook® BQ (1983), and ITC Usherwood®.

ITC Leawood was begun by designer Les Usherwood and finished by his talented staff at Typsettra in Toronto, Canada, after his untimely death. The typeface features small, well-defined serifs which aid legibility and allow for close spacing. Like the typeface Optima, ITC Leawood also displays emphasized strokes with a slight flare.
