Yearling font family

Designed by Chank Diesel in 2001
The Yearlings are designed to work well in print, through fax machines and on your computer monitor. For enhanced screen legibility, this font was built on a simple grid system to match the pixel patterns on your monitor, with emphasis on horizontal and vertical strokes, and limited use of curves and diagonals. Yearling first premiered as the Chank Font of the Month for January 2000. In July 2001, Chank released the lite Yearlings as the Chank Font of the Month to complete the family of eight fonts: Yearling, Yearling Oblique, Yearling Lite, Yearling Lite Oblique, Yearling Bold, Yearling Bold Oblique, Yearling Extra Bold, and Yearling Extra Bold Oblique. Modern and smart, these fonts send your message with complete legibility and a spunky "today" look.

Features

Standard Ligatures

Tag: liga

Function: Replaces a sequence of glyphs with a single glyph which is preferred for typographic purposes. This feature covers the ligatures which the designer/manufacturer judges should be used in normal conditions. The glyph for ffl replaces the sequence of glyphs f f l.

Stylistic Alternates

Tag: salt

Function: Many fonts contain alternate glyph designs for a purely esthetic effect; these don't always fit into a clear category like swash or historical. As in the case of swash glyphs, there may be more than one alternate form. This feature replaces the default forms with the stylistic alternates. The user applies this feature to Industria to get the alternate form of g.
