| Avenir® Next is one of the masterworks of Adrian Frutiger, who also created such popular fonts as Univers® and Frutiger®. The original Avenir was launched in 1988 and its human warmth made it refreshingly different to fonts constructed on the basis of purely metrical concepts. Working in collaboration with Linotype’s Type Director, Akira Kobayashi, Adrian Frutiger further extended the family that originally consisted of only six weights in 2012. Thanks to this complete update and the additional graduated six weights with their matching Condensed variants, Avenir Next allows the full creative potential of this font to be exploited. Avenir Next represents the optimum in terms of harmony and contrast, and these are coupled with its excellent legibility. The OpenType version has made a very wide selection of additional glyphs available, so that the font now supports most Central European and many Eastern European languages.
