Font Designer – Jim Ford

Jim Ford is a type designer for Monotype, and is responsible for some of the most distinctive and creative typefaces in the Monotype Library, including Posterama, Masqualero and Hideout. Jim also collaborates on custom font projects, completing designs for everything from brand agencies and software manufacturers to video games and devices. His Quire Sans typeface blends traditional book typography with the needs of modern electronic media.

Prior to his position at Monotype, Jim was senior type designer for Ascender. He studied advertising art direction and graphic design at Columbia College Chicago where he graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design in 2005.

When he’s not designing typefaces, Jim is a visual artist and focuses on creating abstract collages.
