Torino Modern, designed by Alessandro Butti, was originally conceived as a metal typeface in 1908 and was issued by the font foundry Nebiolo in Turin (hence its name “Torino”). In its initial form, it consisted merely of bold and italic cuts. Dave Farey has remodelled Torino Modern for photosetting and has added the weights Bold and Bold Italic. They have been published through his London studio Panache Graphics.
Torino Modern is an extra-condensed, traditional font family that is particularly suitable for use in the larger font sizes in headlines, on posters etc.
