Font Designer – Rudolf von Larisch

Born 1 April 1856 in Verona, died 28 March 1934 in Vienna. Calligraphy became his leisure pursuit while he was still working as an official at the Ministry of the Interior. Published Beispiele künstlerischer Schrift (Specimens of Artistic Calligraphy) in five parts and Unterricht in ornamentaler Schrift (Tutorial in ornamental calligraphy) in 1905, which had run to 11 editions by 1934. He was appointed as a lecturer at Vienna Academy of Arts in 1902, and also subsequently had teaching posts at other institutes. He had a significant influence on calligraphy in Austria, not only personally, but also through his students.
