Submit Fonts
Linotype has taken its parent companyʼs name, and will now be known as Monotype GmbH, unifying type with technology and expertise. The team remains unchanged and can be contacted at the same numbers and addresses that you already have. The information below is valid and you can find further information at our new corporate website here.
We meet every three months to review and select the fonts to be included in our Library.
How to Submit your Typefaces
We are always on the lookout for new talents and typefaces. Please send us your own font designs if you would like us to consider including these in our Linotype Library, which is a one of the Monotype foundries.
In order to submit your font for our assessment, please use the configuration you will find on the following page under the heading “requirements for successful font submission”. It would also be useful if you could provide a brief personal profile and a description of your design concept. We would also be happy to receive any examples of applications of your font(s) you care to send us.
Your font does not need to be fully perfected when you submit it. If we decide we would like to licence your font from you to include in our Library, we will help you to complete and refine it. We will send you an acknowledgement of receipt when you submit a font to us.
Assuming that we do decide to include your font in the Linotype Library, we will conclude a font licence contract with you. You will receive a fair percentage of the net sale proceeds.
Don’t hesitate to contact us should you have any questions; we will be happy to respond to them!
We prefer submissions to be made by email: typesubmission@monotype.com
Monotype GmbH
Type Submission
Bernhard Hofmacher
Werner-Reimers-Straße 2–4
61352 Bad Homburg
Germany
You are also welcome to enclose a sample application of your typeface with your submission. We prefer to release fonts in sets or families, but if we really like a single font, we may recommend extending it with additional weights or variations; in some cases we may suggest including it in a compilation with two or three other single fonts from other designers.
Your font submission does not have to be perfect when you send it, but you should bear in mind that the closer your data is to being a finished product, the more quickly your font will reach the market. If your work is accepted, we provide technical guidelines to help you optimize, or complete, your font. The TypeBoard responds to all type submissions, so you will get feedback on your work.
If your work becomes part of the Linotype Library, you receive our standard contract which gives you a designer’s royalty based on a lucrative percentage of the wholesale price of the font.
If you would like further information, feel free to contact us. We are happy to answer any questions you might have.
For further, detailed information please read also the requirements for successful font submission on the next page.
