The January 2010 Monotype, ITC, and Linotype Type Review Board

On January 21, 2010, a five-person jury met at London’s St Bride Library. These five individuals – all employees at Linotype GmbH or Monotype Imaging – gathered for one of our company’s official Type Review Board meetings. The Type Review Board, or TRB for short, meets regularly to discuss new additions to the Monotype, ITC, and Linotype typeface collections.
The St Bride Library, in London’s Fleet Street, is no strange name to typographers. Probably the world’s most significant type and printing resource, St Bride is a jewel of design history … one that is free and open to the public.
At this TRB, the jury examined 70 typeface subsmissions, which came from 41 designers, hailing from all across the globe. In all designers from ten different countries submitted their typefaces, and just 8 of these submissions met the juror’s criteria for adoption into the Monotype, ITC, and Linotype collections. You’ll be sure to see them soon, as upcoming new releases.
Would you like to see your own work in our collection? Monotype, ITC, and Linotype are always looking for new typeface designers to represent, and new typefaces to distribute. If you would like to submit your own typefaces to the next TRB, follow this link for detailed typeface submission information!
