Font Designer – Johann Friedrich Unger

Born 1753 in Berlin, died 26 November 1804 in Berlin. Founded a printing shop in Berlin in 1780, to which he added a type foundry in 1791. Appointed Professor of Woodcut Art at the Königlich-preußischen Akademie der bildenden Künste in Berlin in 1800. Also active as publisher and art dealer. Together with Cotta and Göschen, Unger was responsible for the reissue of many works of classical literature in Germany. He created the font Unger Fraktur app. 1800.
