Font Designer – Hermann Hoffmann

Hermann Hoffmann was born in Hildesheim in 1856 and died in Berlin on September 21, 1926. He completed an apprenticeship as a typesetter at the printing company Gebr. Gerstenberg in Hildesheim, Germany. He went on to work as a commercial type-setter and factor in various cities. In the early 1890s he moved to Berlin. Hoffmann was co-founder of the Maschinenfabrik Heidenheim & Hoffmann (presses for printing on envelopes, etc.) and worked from 1893 as editor of the paper. In 1895 he became head of the print room at Berthold AG in Berlin.
