Cynthia Hollandsworth Batty – born 8. 7. 1956 in Washington D.C., USA – type designer. Studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California. Manager of the department of type design and development at Agfa Compugraphic in Massachusetts. Consultant to ITC Typeface Review Board. 1987: founds the Typeface Design Coalition to try to secure legal protection for type designs and software in the USA. Hiroshige was designed in 1986 by Cynthia Hollandsworth of AlphaOmega Typography, Inc. The typeface was originally commissioned for a book of woodblock prints by the great nineteenth-century Japanese artist Ando Hiroshige, whose work influenced many Impressionist artists. The typeface has a gentle calligraphic flair that creates an interesting page of text as well as elegant headlines.
